IS Lesson 4

Hi everyone! It is my 4th IS Lesson. This lesson, I learnt about what CSS is and what is it for. It turns out that CSS is mainly a tool to improve one's website and design it. With CSS, one's website would be rather fabulous and attractive like this blog layout. One can easily change all fonts from courier into Verdana. The font colours can also be changed with one simple code. This is a rather useful tool for creating websites meant for advertising. The webpage can be rather attractive compared to normal lengthy, wordy and long write-ups which are rather unpleasant to the eye. One can also increase the size of the font so that text can be easily seen.
That's all for today. Also, Mr Cheong stated that there would be a test next week and CSS would only comprise of 5%. Such a relief!!! Now, I better proceed with my... revision...

HCI IS lesson 3

Hi everyone!
Today's lesson was particularly interesting. I learnt the basics of html coding! html stands for hyper text mark-up language. However, sadly, the whole blog ruins when I tried typing them in and so I have decided not to include them. As you can see, this is what happens:

() = Bold text

*Inside the bracket is the coding which apparently does not show up... So...

Nevertheless, I look forward to my next IS lesson and I hope I can pick up really fast as I have a strong feeling somehow that Mr. Cheong would go through the next lesson at a rather fast pace. Apologies again for not being able to show you what I have learnt. I would post it ASAP so don't worry!(If possible that is...) Bye! XD

HCI IS Lesson 2

This is my second time I attended the HCI IS Lesson. This time, I learnt what the difference between a blog and a website was, and which is better. He even posted a video on his informative website on Lisa talking about the advantages and disadvantages of blogs and websites. Blogs, according to her, are easier to create and publish but tougher to manipulate. Websites, on the other hand is easier to manipulate. However, it takes a lot of effort and time to publish a website. One has to find a host and stuff like that. Overall, blogs and websites are just as good as each other. It depends on the content. HCI IS Lesson 1

Hi all,

I am Andrew Wee, a student from HCI Singapore. HCI is one of the well known schools in Singapore. It is 90 years old now and I am pretty proud to be in the Hwa Chong Family. I had always thought Hwa Chong was all about work but I was wrong. There are IT lessons in Hwa Chong! This is what I have learned in my very first lesson.

I was taught how to blog using www.blogger.com. The teacher, Mr Cheong, was very engaging. He is quite handsome, I admit. In the first lesson, I also learnt how to create an account on webnewmedia.ning.com . With his marvellous skills, he created this website, which I think is quite a feat. I am looking forward greatly to the lesson in which he teaches us how to create a website and publish it. I can't wait to make my own website! See you soon! +.+
